The Living End – White Noise. Hands down best guitarist in ‘Straya, Mr Chris Cheney ladies and gentlemen. I’ve not flogged this yet, on first few listens its not as good as their last but the word on streetpress proclaims ‘album of their career’…maybe the one to talk em out of stopping it all I hope. So listen, and like. Fingers crossed for Homebake or Big Day Out headlining-esque slot.

 

Birds of Tokyo – Universes. Really good album. Good straight indie bandage for the first half then some Silverchairic tendancies towards the end, but that ain’t so bad either. 2 of the guys from this are from another aussie band called Karnivool, also really good but more towards the tool/nu metal cloned genre.

 

Sam Sparro - Sometimes JJJ passes on overly commerical stuff, and sometimes I guess it’s not so bad. Apparently commercial radio have been playin this guy already so I’m late to the party but I reckon its ok. Good clean dancey pop, B.Jaxx/scissor sisters maybe… mixed with great black man vocals, for a white guy.

 

Scars on Broadway – This is the side project for the (other) main singer of System of A Down. Its a better effort than Serj Tankian (the other singer’s) solo album last year. Got more of the SOAD quirkiness with the same heaviness.

 

Conor Oberst. This is the guy that sings in Bright Eyes…which, you would be forgiven if you thought bright eyes was all him anyway. Apparently not. So here’s a solo album from him. Worth it for his lyrics alone. He’s an amazing songwriter, more lyricist…and that comes from someone that doesn’t normally listen to them. His tend to make me listen cause they’re so good. I’m sure there will be rockpigs that scoff at this. go eat some more mud piggies, this is ‘Alt Country

New Radiohead Song

You will have seen in the set list from Friday that Radiohead played a new song called Super Collider (well that is what they think it will be called). It went down really well and Damien Mulley posted a link to it from You Aint’s Blog.
